Winter Storm Saturn Brings Rain Snow

Drizzle and freezing rain is expected much of the day and could turn to snow this afternoon and again this late evening, the National Weather Service predicts.

A winter rain snow storm dubbed "Winter Storm Saturn" by the Weather Channel, hovered above barely dropping a spat of rain or snow Monday.

But there's a chance Ames residents could wake up to more snow Tuesday.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for Story County and much of the rest of Iowa. The warning lasts into Tuesday.

Tuesday Night A 50 percent chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a high near 29. Windy, with a north northwest wind around 25 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Tonight Scattered snow showers before 7pm, then a chance for flurries before ending. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 15. Wind chill values as low as 5. Windy, with a north northwest wind 18 to 23 mph decreasing to 10 to 15 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 33 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
