With Accelerator Stuck, Ames Woman Hangs on For Terrifying Ride (Video): 2012 in Review

An Ames woman's 15 minutes of fame came via a Missouri state trooper's dash cam.
The camera captured Lauri Ulvestad as she miraculously maintained control of her 2001 Kia Sorento SUV when its accelerator became stuck on a Missouri Highway Aug. 19, as reported by ABC News.

Ulvestad was able to thank a dispatcher, who talked her through the problem, during a Good Morning America segment. And the video of the terrifying ride played on the Today show Monday morning and Ulvestad was interviewed about the ride on the Today show Tuesday morning.
The 47-year-old's ride lasted about 35 minutes and reached speeds of about 115 miles per hour.
