Woman Faces Prison Time for Felony Shoplifting Charge
A 38-year-old woman allegedly stole more than $1,000 worth of items from Walmart, complaints said.

A 38-year-old Ames woman was charged with felony shoplifting recently after leaving the Super Walmart with more than $1,000 worth of merchandise, according to criminal complaints.
Anna H. Gilbertson, 38, of East Seventh Street was charged with second-degree theft, a Class D felony, punishable by five years in prison on June 24.

Ames police were called to the Walmart on South Duff Avenue about 4 a.m. June 24 for a report of a shoplifter. Police found Gilbertson in the parking lot. She matched the description of the shoplifter, according to complaints. The value of the items Gilbertson had was $1,065, complaints said.
Gilbertson confessed to stealing from the store, complaints said. Gilbertson was taken to the Story County Jail and released with supervision. Β
