Ankeny Crews Assess Storm Damage

The City plans to release further details on its website.

City of Ankeny Public Works officials are assessing the damage after rain and strong winds swept through Ankeny early Thursday evening.

Strong winds of up to 70 miles per hour left 3,600 residents without power, according to a report in the Des Moines Register.

At least one home was damaged when a tree fell and winds damaged the monument at Village Inn.

Crews were working to clear storm debris from roads and sidewalks Friday, according to a release from the City of Ankeny. 

Residents have been asked to haul fallen tree branches to the city curb as soon as possible, the release said.

Pickup will begin Monday and last through Sept. 26.
