Ankeny Museum Adopts Floppy

The Floppy exhibit should open sometime in Ankeny this fall.

Floppy, a beagle puppet who appeared on the hand of WHO-TV Broadcaster Duane Ellett, won't be sent to the pound after all.

Ankeny Area Historical Society has adopted the Floppy exhibit abandoned by the State Historical Museum in Des Moines, according to Kyle Munson, a columnist for the Des Moines Register.

Ellett, who died in 1987, has relatives in Ankeny and he once published a Floppy cartoon strip in the Ankeny Press-Citizen, Munson reports, so Ankeny seems as good a place as any for a second home.
