Adult Swim: 8 to 10 p.m. at Cascade Falls Aquatic Center. Adults will have the lazy river all to themselves from 8 to 10 p.m. Thursday. Tickets are $5 and you have to be 18 to get in.

Iowa State Fair: Nothing Compares to the Iowa State Fair, which opens Thursday, Aug. 8, and runs through Aug. 18. There are hundreds of free activities, from old-time fiddler demonstrations to contest in cow-chip throwing and husband-calling, plus the Bill Riley Talent Search, daily horse shows, food on a stick and more.
