ANKENY, IA — After two years of cancellations and modifications, residents in cities and counties across the country are looking forward to many of the traditional Independence Day activities that mark the summer holiday.

While fireworks shows, parades, and other festivities will be happening across the Des Moines metro this weekend, you'll have to wait one more week for Ankeny's annual fireworks and summer celebration.

Where: The District - Prairie Trail

What: Enjoy three days of music, games, carnival rides and food. Highlights of the festival include the Grand Parade on Saturday and a spectacular fireworks display to conclude the event. Fireworks kick off at 9:30 p.m. July 10. See the full schedule of events.
