Wright Announces City Council Candidacy
A former state house candidate hopes to take a seat on the Ankeny City Council.

Jeff Wright, a local attorney and president of the Ankeny School District Foundation, wants to serve the community as a City Council member.
Wright, a partner in the Carr & Wright Law Firm announced his candidacy for Ankeny City Council Thursday.
“It is an honor for me to run for the Ankeny City Council. The community has been represented by many good people in the past, and I am eager to step forward to serve the taxpayers of Ankeny,” Wright said in a prepared statement.

Wright, 36, graduated from Drake Law School in 2006 and chose to live in Ankeny for its great schools and community services. He, his wife, and two children have lived in Ankeny for 6 years.
In addition to serving as Ankeny School District Foundation president, Wright also serves on the Ankeny Area Chamber of Commerce board of directors, and Ankeny’s Young Professionals. He is also a member of the Polk County & Iowa Bar Association.

“My goal will be to keep a watchful eye on the tax rate and make sure the core needs are provided at a high level. Ankeny residents are passionate about our community and I will also be accessible to residents to discuss concerns. It is important to remember that as a public servant I serve the residents of Ankeny,” Wright said in his statement.
Wright, a Sioux City native, has previously run for state office.
