Authorities Find Body of Waterloo Man Who Drowned While Tubing North of Cedar Falls
Authorities said the man had been tubing with friends in the Cedar River Sunday when the tube flipped over after being caught in a river current.

Authorities have located the body of a Waterloo man who drowned in the Cedar River after a tubing accident Sunday.
Black Hawk County Sheriff Tony Thompson, Chief Deputy Rick Abben and Black Hawk County Conservation Officer Mike Hendrickson located Andre Tims, 19, of Waterloo, on the Cedar River Wednesday morning.
Authorities said his body was found approximately three miles downstream from where he was last observed.
Tims disappeared under the river at Black Hawk Park north of Cedar Falls Sunday around 7:30 p.m., authorities said. He had been tubing with friends when his tube was caught by a river current and forced into a large debris area, authorities said. The tube tipped over, and Tims was thrown out. Witnesses said he went under the water and partially came back up a couple of times before disappearing. He was unable to swim, authorities said.
The Sheriff's Office had been on the river trying to locate Tims Sunday night, all day Monday and Tuesday and again Wednesday morning. The sheriff's office was assisted by Black Hawk County Conservation, Cedar Falls Fire and Police, Waterloo Fire, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and Sartori Paramedics.
