Tuesday's runoff election drew about 14 percent of the registered voters and Rob Green captured 70 percent of the votes.

CEDAR FALLS, IA — Rob Green will fill an open seat on the Cedar Falls City Council after handily winning a runoff election on Tuesday. According to unofficial results from the Black Hawk County Election Office, Green collected more than 70 percent of the vote.
Green received 2,901 votes to LeeAnn Saul's 1,212, with a voter turnout of about 14.3 percent, the election office reported.
Green told the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier he opposes a total ban on fireworks and supports a balance of full-time police and firefighters and cross-trained public safety officers. He plans to work on increasing engagement between residents and elected officials.

Green and Saul faced off in Tuesday's election after being the top two vote getters in the Nov. 7 three-way race, but neither collected a majority of votes, which led to the runoff. In November he was the top vote getter with 2,110 votes, or nearly 40 percent, to Saul's 1,802 votes, or 34 percent.
He replaces Nick Taiber, who did not seek re-election.
