Day After Cedar Falls Superintendent Rescinds Resignation, School Board Calls Special Meeting to Discuss Wells' Employment Contract
Cedar Falls Superintendent Mike Wells sent out a letter of resignation and then withdrew that resignation on Monday.

The Cedar Falls School Board announced this afternoon that it has called a special meeting for Wednesday to discuss Superintendent Mike Wells' employment contract.
The unexpected meeting comes after Wells tendered his resignation in a letter to staff, and then withdrew that resignation during last night's school board meeting.
Wells said after the meeting on Monday night that he had felt uncertain about the support from the district and community, but that he now understands he has full support.

He was hired less than a year ago on a one-year contract that will expire June 30. After Monday night's meeting, he said he expected to be given a standard three-year contract at the board's March 11 meeting.
At Monday's meeting, a discussion of Wells' job performance during a closed session was on the agenda, but those agenda items were removed at board president Deon Senchina's request at the start of the meeting. Wells' job performance had been discussed at a number of previous closed session meetings.

Senchina said she was surprised by Wells' letter announcing his intention to resign. She said she didn't know why he had sent it.
The special meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. at the Cedar Falls Community School District James L. Robinson Administrative Center, 1002 W. First St.
