UPDATED: Cedar Falls Superintendent Mike Wells to be Hired as Mount Pleasant Superintendent
Mike Wells resigned Feb. 27 after it became clear the Cedar Falls School Board would vote not to renew his contract.
Cedar Falls Superintendent Mike Wells is in line to be hired as the superintendent of Mount Pleasant Community Schools, according to the Mount Pleasant School District website.
Wells has been surrounded by controversy ever since he was pushed to resign, effective June 30, from his first-year position as the head of the Cedar Falls Community School District. Wells resigned Feb. 27 after it became clear the Cedar Falls School Board would vote not to renew his contract.

The Board of directors will call a special session to vote on the approval to hire Mike Wells for the position of District Superintendent.
Please come and show your support to Mike and his family during a welcome reception immediately following the special session.
Wells did not immediately return a call asking for comment Wednesday night.
An article on the website of Mt. Pleasant radio station KILJ Radio confirms the announcement:
Mike is looking forward to working with the Mount Pleasant Community School District staff, school board, and community on providing a “World Class” education for ALL children. He feels blessed and honored to have this opportunity and to follow Dr. John Roederer as the Mount Pleasant school leader.
According to the school district website, Mt. Pleasant, a town of over 8,000 people 45 miles south of Iowa City, is the 36th largest of Iowa's 370 public school systems, with approximately 2,200 students.
The website for Ray and Associates, the search firm that advertised the Mount Pleasant job, says the position's salary is, "In the range of $160,000 plus a comprehensive benefits package." Wells' Cedar Falls salary is $180,000.
