'I Have Not Been Perfect': Resignation Letter from Cedar Falls Superintendent Mike Wells
Cedar Falls Superintendent Mike Wells, faced with termination, resigned at a special school board meeting Feb. 27.
Mike Wells, superintendent of Cedar Falls schools, has resigned, effective July 1.
The move came at a school board meeting called Wednesday specifically to take action on his employment contract. He resigned rather than be terminated by the board, which voted 5-2 to accept his resignation.
In his resignation letter, Wells told the board he believes he has always acted in the interest of the district's students:

I have not been perfect, but my intentions and integrity in pursuing those goals have always had what is best for our community’s children as my focus. Sometimes, there is a philosophical difference between a leader and the school board, thus is the case.
