Cedar Falls Votes To Ban Fireworks
The city is following what many other communities have done since a state law that changed earlier this year allows fireworks in Iowa.

CEDAR FALLS — There was more of a fizzle than an explosion this week when the Cedar Falls City Council voted to ban the discharge of fireworks inside the city without any discussion or objection from the public. The ban passed on a 4-3 vote Nov. 6.
Some city officials acknowledged the issue might come up again after holidays in which people typically use fireworks to celebrate — and during state-approved fireworks usage periods, leading up to New Year's and Independence Day.
Mayor Jim Brown told the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier he was somewhat surprised at the lack of discussion at Monday's council meeting, but added there had been "plenty of discussion to move it to this point” over the past several months.
