Photos: Cedar River Floods Over Roads, Parks in Northern Cedar Falls

A flood warning is in effect for the Cedar River through Sunday in Cedar Falls.

Authorities say the Cedar River crested Wednesday night and will begin to fall, but a flood warning remains in effect through Sunday afternoon.

Water was over the road on Cottage Row Wednesday, and Tourist Park was completely underwater. Several bike trails both near the river and adjacent to Dry Run Creek are underwater. George Wyth Park in Waterloo has been closed just in time for Memorial Day weekend.

The National Weather Service said at 8:45 a.m. Thursday the river was at 93.1 feet, 5.1 feet above flood stage.

For the most part, however, Cedar Falls has been spared the worst of the water this time around. In Janesville, residents of a trailer park had to be boated to safety after the river cut them off from the rest of town.
