Gold Coins, Check, Silver Bars Turn Up In Cedar Falls Red Kettle
The boy was helping his mother count money that had been dropped into red kettles in the Cedar Falls-Waterloo Salvation Army's holicampaign.

CEDAR FALLS, IA — A kindergartner helping count money in Salvation Army red kettles for the Waterloo-Cedar Falls agency found a $500 check in a kettle that also contained a 1 oz. silver bar. In another bucket he found two gold coins.
The big scores all came in one night, KWWL-TV reported, but the Salvation Army said to date this season it has received five gold coins, two silver bars and a variety of silver dollars. Unlike the regular currency and coins, the specialty items will be held out of the collection and auctioned at the beginning of the year.
The gold coins found by Grayson Cox, 6, this week were valued at about $1,300 each, KWWL reported.
