Say goodbye to that beautiful perfect weather of last week, the Dog Days of Summer are upon us.

The National Weather Service in Des Moines is predicting highs near 90 degrees all week.

There looks to be a slight chance of rain tonight, but besides that it should be clear and hot until the end of the week, when more rain could bring cooler temperatures along with it.

Here's the daily forecast:

  • Monday night: Isolated showers and thunderstorms before 10 p.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 70. Southeast wind 5 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
  • Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 88. South southwest wind 6 to 11 mph.
  • Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 90. Southwest wind 6 to 9 mph.
  • Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 90.
  • Friday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 89.
And for you RAGBRAI riders next week, according to the Weather Underground extended forecast for Iowa you should have a cooler start to your ride, but you may face the same scorching temperatures as well as thunderstorms.
