Snowfall Totals, Delays, Road Conditions: Winter Storm Q Blankets Cedar Falls

With snow still coming down Friday morning, classes were delayed or canceled and snow emergencies were in effect.

Cedar Falls woke up to a blanket of white Friday morning.

Winter Storm Q dumped about 6 inches of snow on Cedar Falls overnight, KWWL reported.

Meanwhile, with snow continuing to come down, the National Weather Service said the area could get up to another inch of snow by the end of the day.

The Weather Channel predicted most of the snow flurries would taper off by around 11 a.m. It also forecast mild temperatures near the upper 20s, with 5 to 10 mph winds.

The University of Northern Iowa and Hawkeye Community College delayed classes until 10 a.m., and Cedar Falls and Waterloo Schools were canceled.

Meanwhile, the Iowa DOT showed roads as "completely covered" in and around Cedar Falls and Waterloo Friday morning.

Both Cedar Falls and Waterloo had declared snow emergencies. In Cedar Falls, the snow emergency will continue until 5 p.m. Friday. Residents are asked to move their vehicles off of snow emergency routes until after the snow emergency has been lifted. Vehicles in violation will be ticketed and possibly towed.

Refuse collection will be as normal for Friday.

Waterloo's snow emergency lasts until 6 a.m. Sat.
