Kids Step Into Shoes Of Firefighters And Helicopter Pilots for Annual National Night Out
The Cedar Falls Police Department teamed up Tuesday with Target and other local law enforcement agencies for the annual National Night Out Against Crime. Activities included fingerprinting available to parents for their children, and child-friendly handouts along with hot dogs and hamburgers.
Lt. Dan Brown of the Cedar Falls Police Dept. said the fingerprint kits are meant as a precaution.
"We don't keep them, but parents then have them on hand in case something ever happens," he said. "We hope they gather dust."
The University of Iowa AirCare helicopter along with its flight crew answered questions and allowed kids to get a close-up look at an airborne ambulance. There were also fire trucks, ambulance, police cars and K9 officer Loki to visit.
This marks the fourth time that Target has teamed with the department since the opening of the Cedar Falls store. The Target Corporation is a national sponsor of this event.
