Taylor Morris to Receive 'Smart Home' and Benefit Concert Courtesy of Actor Gary Sinise's Foundation
Cedar Falls sailor Taylor Morris lost parts of all four limbs when he stepped on an explosive in Afghanistan.

Taylor Morris, the Cedar Falls sailor who lost parts of all four limbs while clearing explosives in Afghanistan, will receive a specially designed "Smart Home," courtesy of the Gary Sinise Foundation.
Sinise, the actor who played Lt. Dan, a Vietnam veteran and double amputee, in the movie Forrest Gump, will put on a benefit concert in Cedar Falls to raise money for the project.
The project is a collaboration of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation and the Sinise Foundation in the Building for America’s Bravest program, which strives to provide personal independence and freedom to wounded warriors by designing a house around their needs.

"Smart Homes” normally feature retractable cooktops, cabinets and shelving, automated lighting, heating, air-conditioning and window treatments controlled by an iPad, as well as elevators, roll-in bathrooms, front-load washers and dryers, intercom systems and automated doors.
Morris's girlfriend Danielle Kelly said the home would be built in Iowa. She and Morris have written on their blog about returning to Cedar Falls after Morris's recovery at Walter Reed Medical Center is complete.
