The University of Northern Iowa 2013 Dance Marathon raised a whopping $101,379, the group reported Saturday as 12 hours of dancing wound down at the Maucker Union.
The University of Northern Iowa 2013 Dance Marathon raised a whopping $101,379, the group reported Saturday as 12 hours of dancing wound down at the Maucker Union.
That's almost double what the group raised in 2012, its first year in Cedar Falls.
UNI Dance Marathon is a student organization that raises money for the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital and the Children’s Miracle Network.

Fun Facts from the #UNIDM2013
1. Between 850-900 dancers were at our Big Event. That's 14% of the UNI population!
2. With UNI athletics, volunteers, families and dancers combined, we had a total of around 1,100 people in Maucker Union!
3. #UNIDM2013 was the 2nd most tweeted thread in the state of Iowa yesterday!
4. UNI DM is 1 of only 20 schools who have ever raised a six-digit number in one year. We are officially ranked in the Top 20 for Dance Marathons in the nation!
5. We raised $40,000 in the 5 days leading up to the event!
