Police: Cedar Falls Man Drove Through Yard, Hit Wall and Fence in Waterloo Car Crash

Police said a medical issue may have caused the crash.

A Cedar Falls man was hospitalized after a Sunday car crash in Waterloo.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reported Malon Deville, 53, of 2216 Lincoln St., was driving a Ford van when police said he sideswiped a Buick driven by Jasmin Dixon, 23, on East Fourth Street in Waterloo at around 5:40 p.m.

Police said he then drove through a yard at Renaissance Village Apartments on Lime Street and continued on a flat tire to Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Once there, police said he crossed the center line, hit part of a bridge wall and left the road, struck a fence and landed on the grass several feet below.

Police said a medical issue may have caused Deville's accident, which ended with paramedics transporting him to Covenant Medical Center. He was cited for driving without a valid license.
