Waterloo Man Dies After Black Hawk County Motorcycle Crash

On Saturday, two motorcycles collided south of Elk Run Heights.

A Waterloo man has died following a motorcycle accident in Black Hawk County Saturday.

Robert Meeks, 60, was transported to Covenant Medical Center Saturday with severe injuries. The Black Hawk County Sheriff's office said today he has died.

On May 11, after 6 p.m., Black Hawk County Sheriff's deputies responded to the accident at the intersection of Gilbertville Road and Young Road, south of Elk Run Heights.

Authorities said Meeks' motorcycle collided from behind with another motorcylce driven by James Schares, 41, of Waterloo.

Schares received minor injuries and was not hospitalized.

The Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by the Evansdale Police and Fire/Rescue and the Gilbertville Fire Department and First Responders.
