Waterloo Man Dies From Motorcycle Accident After Police Chase

A Waterloo man has died after his motocycle crashed during a chase with Waterloo police Thursday.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reported Hunter Troy Burchard, 23, died Monday at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

According to police reports, Waterloo police attempted to stop Burchard just before 3 a.m. near West Sixth Street and Jefferson Street in Waterloo because a tail light was out. Instead of stopping, police said Burchard lead officers on a chase south on West 11th Street and entered a construction zone. His Kawaski motorcycle crashed into a parked excavator, police said.

The crash remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
