Weather Alert: Flood and Dense Fog Warnings: Cedar River Flooding Expected

The National Weather Service is urging people to take precaution.

More wet weather means more warnings for the Cedar Falls and Black Hawk County areas.

Backed with another 2 inches plus of rain and traces of snow, the National Weather Service has issued a warning for dense fog Saturday and Sunday and possible flooding throughout the coming week.

The Cedar River is expected to rise to 1.9 feet above flood stage on Monday. The Cedar is at 84.6 feet as of Saturday afternoon. Flood stage is 88 feet, and by Monday the river is expected to rise to 89.9 feet. The flood warning is in effect through Friday.

Drivers are urged to turn around if you encounter a flooded area.

Dense fog is expected late Saturday through mid morning Sunday. Visibility could be a quarter-mile or less at times. Drivers should slow down, use headlights and leave plenty of distance in front.
