Police ID Boy Killed In Des Moines School Shooting

Jose David Lopez was killed in the shooting at East High School in Des Moines on Monday. Six teens have been arrested, according to police.

DES MOINES, IA — The 15-year-old boy who was shot and killed in Monday's shooting at East High School in Des Moines has been identified as Jose David Lopez, police said Tuesday afternoon.

Six teens were arrested overnight in connection with Monday's shooting at East High School in Des Moines, police said.

All six were charged with one count of first degree murder and two counts of attempted murder. Octavio Lopez, 17, Nyang Chamdual, 14, Manuel Buezo, 16, Romero Perdomo, 16, Alex Perdomo, 15, and Henry Valladares-Amaya, 17, are accused of killing a Lopez and injuring two teen girls in the shooting, according to authorities.

It is unclear if there is a connection between Jose David Lopez and Octavio Lopez.

The two injured victims remain hospitalized, with a 16-year-old girl in serious condition and an 18-year-old girl in critical condition, police said.

Police believe the suspects drove by the school in multiple cars and fired shots at the three victims, who were on school grounds. The Des Moines Police Department executed five residential search warrants and six vehicle search warrants overnight and recovered six guns, according to authorities.
