Blizzard In Northwest, Rain Across Metro: Iowa Weather
Precipitation should end tonight with dry and sunny conditions through much of the week and highs into the low 50s by Friday.

DES MOINES, IA — A significant winter storm will hit portions of northwest and north central Iowa today into tonight, creating dangerous to near impossible travel conditions, according to the forecast from the National Weather Service office in Des Moines. Blizzard conditions are likely over these regions with very heavy snow and strong northwest winds expected.
Elsewhere in the state, the rain that began Sunday night will continue throughout the day and gradually change to snow from northwest to southeast across central and eastern Iowa later this afternoon and evening.
The Des Moines metro area is expecting a dusting to a half inch of snow after the rain moves out late tonight. A 70 percent chance of snow is most likely between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m. There will be patchy fog in much of central Iowa.

A high of 42 is expected in the Des Moines area today, with an overnight low of 26. Tuesday's forecast high of 33 looks to be the lowest for the week, as temperatures rise to 40 on Wednesday, 49 on Thursday and 51 by Friday. No additional precipitation is forecast through the work week once the current band of storms moves out of the area tonight.
