DES MOINES, IA — A 46-year-old Des Moines man faces seven criminal charges following his arrest Thursday morning after he refused to pull over for a traffic violation and instead led Iowa State Patrol troopers on a chase. The incident began around 7:30 a.m. at approximately mile marker 133 on Interstate 80 and ended near Madison Elementary School at East Eighth Street and Madison Avenue in Des Moines.
Troopers had attempted to pull the vehicle over for an expired registration, but the driver did not cooperate, KCCI-TV reported. Additional state troopers joined the pursuit, which ended when one trooper bumped the car using a PIT maneuver that caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
Frederick Ray Jones was arrested without incident and taken to the Polk County Jail. He told troopers he wanted to be chased because “it was on his bucket list," KCCI reported.
