Des Moines Shooter Remains At Large After Incident Early Sunday

Des Moines Police seek a shooter who injured one person, fled the scene and crashed at a fast-food restaurant early Sunday.

DES MOINES, IA. -- Des Moines police continue to search for a gunman who fired multiple times and hit one person, then led them on a chase early Sunday morning. The victim, who was shot in the arm, appeared to have non-life-threatening injuries, Des Moines Police Sgt. Paul Parizek said.

The incident started around 3 a.m. Sunday near Ninth and Mulberry streets. The victim was able to call police, who arrived at the scene and observed a vehicle thought to be driven by the gunman leave a parking ramp.

Police chased the vehicle for three miles. The driver lost control of the vehicle at East 14th Street and Court Avenue and fled into a nearby wooded area.

A K-9 unit was sent to search but could not locate the assailant.

Police said two passengers were in the vehicle. One was sent to a Des Moines hospital with minor injuries.
