Here are the top three stories today in Des Moines:
- Two pedestrians are in the hospital after a hit-and-run early Sunday morning. Des Moines police say that a 33-year-old man is in serious condition and a 60-year-old man is in critical condition. The police are no longer requesting information from the public, and have located and impounded the vehicle believed to be involved. (KCCI Des Moines)
- The City of Des Moines advises boaters on the Des Moines River that water levels will be lower for 24 to 36 hours beginning in the afternoon of Apr. 13. The City is removing flashboard from the Center Street Dam on Apr. 14 to adjust outflow at the Saylorville Reservoir Dam. (Press Release Desk)
- Rising costs have caused a delay in a $125 million water trails project. The project, designed to promote recreation and tourism along the Des Moines River, has faced budget issues since its unveiling four years ago. The deadline for some of the funding is 2026, so the Iowa Confluence Water Trails Organization wants to begin construction in Sep. (KCCI Des Moines)
