- Des Moines police have identified a teenager who was killed in a hit-and-run accident on Thursday. Officials say the victim of the crash was 14-year-old Ema Cardenas of Des Moines. The vehicle that was allegedly involved in the incident has also reportedly been located and impounded. (Local 5 - weareiowa.com)
- Des Moines Public Schools held the first of five planned community conversations on Thursday after a shooting outside East High School last month. The sessions are intended to give students and community members a platform to voice their concerns about safety and begin healing. The second community conversation will be held on Monday, May 2, at Lincoln High School. (Des Moines Register)
- The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is looking to hire dozens of agents to help support summer travel at the Des Moines International Airport. The agency held a hiring fair at the Sheraton West Des Moines Hotel on Thursday and Friday in an attempt to help expedite the recruitment process. New hires will receive a starting pay of $18.95 an hour as well as an additional $1,000 recruitment bonus. (KCCI Des Moines)
