Mediacom Internet Outages Plague Customers For Second Day In A Row

IOWA — Mediacom appeared to be experiencing widespread outages Wednesday for the second day in a row.

As of 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, almost 6,500 customers were reporting outages, according to technology outage tracker DownDetector.com. About 95 percent of reports were for internet outages. Four percent of customers reported a total service blackout. By 5 p.m., the number of reported outages had dropped to around 200.

Mediacom responded to several tweets complaining about the outages, saying its network operations team was investigating the cause and working to restore service.

Outages were reported in multiple states including Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, Illinois and Missouri.

Around the same time Tuesday, nearly 8,500 customers reported outages, which the company confirmed in a statement posted to Twitter. Service was restored around 5 p.m. Tuesday, according to Mediacom.
