Meet A Future Leader In Des Moines: Liya Neopaney
Patch and T-Mobile have partnered to highlight young people achieving great things in our community.

The future of Des Moines is looking bright, thanks to the incredible young people working to strengthen our community. In partnership with T-Mobile, Patch is proud to spotlight future leaders like Liya Neopaney, who are making a positive impact in and around Des Moines.
Liya, a graduate of Waukee High School, exemplifies leadership and dedication through her academic and extracurricular accomplishments. Now pursuing a finance degree at Des Moines Area Community College, she was one of two recipients of the 2024 Dluhos-Vavra Scholarship. This prestigious $2,250 award celebrates outstanding students in the Waukee Community School District and recognizes their potential to excel in higher education.
Outside academics, Liya serves as a Chrysalis GirlPower Senior Peer Mentor, contributing to the Chrysalis Foundation’s mission to end interpersonal violence in Greater Des Moines. As part of the GirlPower initiative, she teaches younger girls about healthy relationships and supports the evolving curriculum designed to foster self-awareness and self-management.
