Here are the top three stories in Des Moines today:

  1. A new $58 million dollar hockey arena in Des Moines just got its final approval. The new Buccaneers arena is going up at Merle Hay Mall and will seat 3,500 fans. The Iowa Economic Development Authority approved the plans to funnel $26.5 million into the project; the project is expected to finish in the fall of next year. (KCCI Des Moines)
  2. The DMACC has released information on fall offerings at the new Templeton Regional Center. Students from Audubon, Exira-EHK, Coon Rapids-Bayard, and IKM-Manning will be able to take courses from the regional center located at Templeton. There are two categories of courses being offered at the regional center: a skilled trades track and a health/general education track. (The Audubon County Advocate Journal)
  3. The Des Moines Civic Center will host a family-friendly performance of "Paddington Gets In A Jam" on Wednesday, Apr. 27 at 6:30 p.m. A discovery party, with a bear-themed storytime and a Paddington hat craft, will take place an hour before curtain.
