Victims In Saturday's Deadly Southeast Des Moines Crash Identified
A Des Moines woman and a teenager were killed when their vehicle was hit head-on in a collision on S.E. Army Post Road Saturday afternoon.

DES MOINES, IA — The victims in Saturday's deadly collision on Southeast Army Post Road have been identified. Des Moines police said the driver of an SUV that was hit head-on died at the scene, along with a 13-year-old in the vehicle.
The accident happened around 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the 3600 block of Southeast Army Post Road. Police said Sunday that Ryan Rench, 28, of Des Moines, was westbound in a red Dodge pickup truck when he attempted to pass other westbound vehicles and moved into oncoming traffic.
Rench's vehicle collided head-on with an eastbound white Honda crossover SUV. The driver of that vehicle, 56-year-old Kathryn Kinley of Des Moines, was killed. A passenger, Nariyo Lee, 13, of Des Moines, also died at the scene. A second passenger, 12-year-old Kaden Kinley, was transported to an area hospital after the accident and remained hospitalized Sunday. His condition was unknown.

The Des Moines Police Department Traffic Unit investigated the crash, which closed Army Post for approximately three hours.
Rench, the only person in the pickup, was reported in serious condition after the accident. He remained hospitalized Sunday and his condition was unknown.
