A Breather Before the Next Step?: Iowa City School Board Agendas and Packet for Feb. 19 Meetings

The school board is set to meet this coming Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.

The Revenue Purpose Statement has passed, and after an acrimonious three readings, so did the district's controversial diversity policy.

Nothing coming up Tuesday should measure up to those two votes.

According to agendas attached to this article, the school board looks to have a fairly light schedule for its main board meeting, followed by a meeting of the Facilities Committee where the only item is to receive an update on the progress of BLDD Architects, the consultants hired by the district to assess the state and capacity of its buildings. BLDD's report could be critical both to how the RPS money is spent, and how Superintendent Steve Murley and the administrative staff can deal with the goals set forth by the diversity policy.

This will be followed by a job evaluation of Superintendent Murley in closed session.
