Why Go: Want to go see a film directed by University of Iowa graduates who somehow managed to convince Reginal VelJohnson (better known as televison's Carl Winslow) to be in their movie about engineering students who produce the perfect formula for picking up women? Have I mentioned that admission is free?

2. Was the Word
Where/When:Â The Englert, Sunday, 7 p.m.
Why Go: The Working Group Theatre's monthly spoken word and storytelling event at The Englert Theatre in downtown Iowa City with this performance including poetry, spoken word, and storytelling. Also present will be the music of the Awful Purdies and beer and wine will be available with the proper ID.
Pricing: Suggested donation of $10, to benefit the Iowa City Senior Center
3. The Felice Brothers w. Terrible
Where/When: The Mill, 9:00 p.m.
Why Go: Well traveled folk rock artists The Felice Brothers are not only actual brothers from the Catskill Mountains in Upstate New York, they have toured with some impressive acts.

4. "The Little Princess"
Where/When: Coralville Performing Arts Center, 1301 5th St.
Performances January 19 at 7:00 PM and January 20 at 2:00 PM
Why Go: The Nolte Academy presents the classic children's tale, A Little Princess. The academy features acting students ages 7 to 14, along side a few adult actors and actresses. The classic children's tale comes to life on stage!

5. Interfaith Worship Service, Honoring the Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Where/When: First Mennonite Church
Why Go: Although Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. still inspires people of all colors and creeds to this day, it sometimes is lost that his religion played a huge part in not only the creation of his ideals, but also aided in the transmission of his message to a broad and passionate coalition of people. Appropriately, an interfaith service kicks off a week at the University of Iowa devoted to Dr. King and human rights.
