Iowa City Man's Gay Marriage Defense is Top YouTube Political Video of 2011
Zach Wahls' speech before the Iowa Legislature in defense of gay marriage was the most viewed political video on YouTube in 2011, according to Google.
Whatever your take on gay marriage, it's hard to argue that then-19-year-old Zach Wahls spoke beyond his years when addressing the Iowa Legislature earlier this year.
The former school student was raised by lesbian mothers and his family "really isn't so different from yours," he said back in February.
Iowa legalized gay marriage in 2009, and it has been a polarizing topic ever since. Three Iowa Supreme Court justices were voted off the bench in 2010 as punishment for their ruling legalizing gay marriage.

Wahls' articulate testimonial came in at just under three minutes and became an instant hit on the internet. After going viral in February, it went ago after Wahls participated in a live chat online.
