Iowa City Police Blotter Nov. 18: Woman Goes to Jail to Bail Out Friend, is Arrested for Drunk Driving

A Mount Pleasant woman who was nice enough to go bail out her friend found herself in trouble with the law once she arrived at the Johnson County Jail.

Authorities said that Alissa Denise Baxter, 22, arrived at the jail at 1:55 a.m. on Friday morning. She contacted deputies at the jail and allegedly admitted to driving there from the Summit Bar. Deputies proceeded to put her through alcohol impairment tests, which she allegedly failed, and she also blew an blood-alcohol content of .134. Officers charged her with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a misdemeanor.
