Iowa City Police: Man Punched Brothers Bar Doorman, Attempted to Bite Arresting Officer

The unruly Brothers customer allegedly decided he would not go quietly into that good night once police arrived.


A Tama man is facing multiple misdemeanor charges after allegedly getting into a dispute with a Brothers Bar and Grill doorman last night, then resisting the subsequent arrest.

According to an Iowa City Police criminal complaint, police officers responded at 9:40 p.m. to the report of a man who had punched the doorman at Brothers BarThere they found Reginald Clive Walker, 24, of Tama being detained by bar staff for the alleged punch.

When officers attempted to arrest Walker, he was uncooperative, according to the complaint, refusing to place his hands behind his back when asked so he could avoid being handcuffed, and attempting to bite an officer in the leg when they subdued him.

Walker allegedly had loud, slurred speech, smelled of alcohol, and needed assistance to walk to his car. He refused an alcohol test, according to the complaint.

Walker was charged with assault on a police officer, a serious misdeamonr; intoxication, disorderly behavior, and interference with official acts, all simple misdemeanors, for the incident.

Online jail records had Walker being booked into the Johnson County Jail about an hour later, where he was charged and released.
