Iowa City Weather Alert: Iowa City in Winter Storm Watch Monday as Snow Approaches. 4-10 Inches of Snow Possible

Iowa City looks down the barrel of another four to ten inches of snow from tonight through Tuesday as Winter Storm Saturn approaches.


Update 6:08 a.m.:

A morning update from KCRG, some precipitation already this morning so watch your driving on the way to work, then there will be a break in the middle of the day before the big stuff happens:

Followed by a break in the precipitation this afternoon. The heaviest of the snow is expected to overspread the region tonight and continue into tuesday. The heaviest snowfall totals are expected mainly along and north of highway 30 with lesser amounts to the south. Increasing winds tuesday afternoon may result in significant blowing and drifting snow...Resulting in hazardous travel conditions...Even where snowfall amounts are light. ...Winter weather advisory in effect from 6 pm this evening to 6 pm cst tuesday...

The National Weather Service in the Quad Cities is setting an area in Eastern Iowa including Johnson County in a winter weather watch from Monday morning through Tuesday afternoon as a new winter storm approaches.

* VISIBILITIES...REDUCED TO ONE-HALF MILE OR LESS AT TIMES.

* TEMPERATURES...IN THE UPPER 20S TO NEAR 30. * IMPACTS...DEPENDING ON THE EXACT TIMING...THE BEGINNING OF THE SNOW COULD COINCIDE WITH MONDAY MORNINGS RUSH

HOUR...MAKING TRAVEL HAZARDOUS.

The weather forecast from the weather service includes a chance for snow tonight through Tuesday. The Weather Underground multi day forecast has temperatures increasing into the high 30s and low 40s after the storm leaves later in the week.
