Iowa City Weather: Hold On, It'll Be Bitterly Cold Today But Another January Thaw's On Its Way
Sure it's -2 degrees right now, but Iowa's weather is just crazy enough to jump 40 degrees in the right direction next week.

Things are looking up for weather this coming week.
Sure there isn't a lot of hope when the hazardous weather advisory from the National Weather Service says wind chill will eventually impove to reaching zero degrees tonight:Â
.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT COLD WIND CHILLS WILL CONTINUE THIS MORNING...BEFORE IMPROVING TO AROUND ZERO LATE THIS MORNING AND AFTERNOON. MORNING WIND CHILLS ALONG AND NORTH OF INTERSTATE 80 WILL RANGE FROM -1-8 TO -15. FLURRIES WILL BE POSSIBLE TONIGHT...WITH LIGHT WINDS MAKING WIND CHILLS LESS OF A HAZARD. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...WEDNESDAY THROUGH MONDAY THERE IS A CHANCE OF LIGHT SNOW THURSDAY NIGHT WITH LIGHT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS POSSIBLE BY FRIDAY MORNING. ANOTHER CHANCE OF SNOW MAY COME ON SUNDAY.

But do not abandon hope for the weather getting better, as the weather forecast for this week is a gradual warming trend, with highs reaching near 30 degrees tomorrow (double today's projected high temp) and that trend continuing to include highs in the 40s all of next week. Winter hasn't been totally cancelled, however, as there will be chances for snow on Thursday through the following Monday.
So bundle up and enjoy one more day of actual winter weather before the third January thaw of the month leads us into February.
