The Building Blocks to Employment Job Fair Committee is seeking volunteers to assist with planning and organizing this spring's job fair.Â
The Building Blocks to Employment Job Fair is a biannual event for the past 10 years. The Building Blocks to Employment Job Fair has been the only job fair in Johnson County to specifically target those persons who are unemployed and/or underemployed. The Job Fair is designed to assist entry level employees in obtaining gainful employment in and throughout Johnson County. There is no cost to job seekers who attend this event. The job fair provides job seekers with the opportunity to meet with hiring managers and get information about local employers. Past job fairs have had over 200 participants and 30 employers in attendance.
The next planning meeting will be held on Friday, February 22 at 11:00 a.m. in the Helling Conference Room at City Hall, 410 E. Washington Street, Iowa City. This meeting will begin the planning process for the spring job fair of 2013. The job fair will be held in mid to late April. Committee members will be asked to contact employers and do other tasks related to ensuring a successful event.
If you would like to join the Building Blocks to Employment Job Fair Committee please call the City of Iowa City Human Rights Office at 319-356-5022 or email humanrights@iowa-city.org.
