Dragon Football Playoff Vs. Urbandale Named 'Game of the Year'

The Dragon Football team recently received a special honor.

The Johnston Dragons Football team may not have earned a State Championship last year, but they did get something else.

The Dragons playoff game versus the Urbandale J-Hawks was named the "Game of the Year" in the 2012 Central Iowa Sports Awards.

The playoff game was definitely one for the memory.

After two overtimes, the Dragons came up with a final touchdown to beat the J-Hawks, 58-55.

To start the second overtime, the J-Hawks scored a field goal moving the score to 55-52.

But Johnston was quick to answer with Marcus Montgomery scoring from 10 yards out to end the game.

The awards, sponsored by the Greater Des Moines Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Des Moines Area Sports Commisson, recognize the best athletes, teams and games of the year.
