Johnston Board Honors Ann Wiley with R.O.S.E. Award

Each month the Johnston school district recognizes someone who goes above and beyond the ordinary to support education.

In December, the district honored Ann Wiley, district instructional technology coordinator, with a R.O.S.E. Award.

"Tonight we are honoring someone that has done a lot for our district," Superintendent Clay Guthmiller said at the Dec. 10 board meeting. "We can't think of anyone more deserving than Ann Wiley. When you talk about value to a district, certainly her hame comes to the forefront."

The R.O.S.E. Award, which stands for Recognizing Outstanding Support of Education, is given to students, staff or community members who encourage the success of Johnston children in academics, athletics, activities and community services.

Guthmiller described Wiley as a visionary on how to enhance learning for students and incorporate technology in all areas of education.

"Her delivery in professional development has assisted our staff and incorporated 21st century skills."

Wiley has been instrumental as the district readies for the new 1:1 initiative at Johnston High School.

R.O.S.E. Award
Any community member is encouraged to nominate a student, employee or community member who they feel has gone “above and beyond.” Nomination forms are available at any school office, Johnston Administrative Resource Center, City of Johnston Public Library, or via the district’s website. The form requires the nominee’s name, school/organization affiliation, and brief explanation of why they should be selected. The person nominating someone would also need to include his or her name and phone number.
