Johnston Middle School Mock Trials Team Received Recognition at State Tournament
Several teams from JMS competed in the state mock trial tournament Dec. 6-7.

The Johnston Middle School Mock Trial raked in the accolades at the State Tournament in December.
Several students received medals.
Seventh graders Prakhyath Bujimalla and Kathryn Ikeda, and Eitght graders Lavina Kalwani and Afshan Chaldoni were awarded Outstanding Attorney medals.
The Judge Anthony Critelli Award for Professional Conduct, Courtroom Decorum, Civility and Sportsmanship was awarded to Team Purple.
Coached by attorneys Rachele and Joel Hjelmaas, Team Dragon members were Hailey Abbey, Ally Andreasen, Anelise Gebard, Maddie Gregurek, Sydney Hedgepeth, Kathryn Ikeda, Rachel Johnson, Jack Lucas, Elvin Niu and Anika Schmitt. Team parents were Amy Lucas and Kersten Gebard, and high school coaches Abby Dockum, Katie Landy, Paige Vaden and Troy Ikeda.
Team Gold members Lavina Kalwani, Morgan Bump, Maeve Greising, Peter Beebe, Prakhyath Bujimalla, Brooke Thacker, Matt Dolde, Isabelle Thomasee, Sam Flodin, Bobby Bailey and Donald Gee were coached by attorney Jim Johnson.
Team parent Susan Bailey and high school coaches Riley Deutsch, Millie Varley, Marcus Miller, Amy Nihart, Lauren McDowell, Becca McDowell and Pratyusha Bujimalla assisted.
Team Purple was coached by Kate Safris, Anne Keating and Adam Kaduce, and included members Megan Hartle, Luke Safris, Xiao Liu, Nikki Hobson, Lizzie Boeschen, Kate Carico, Afshan Chandani, Justin Hu, Cole Krammersmeier and Jillian Gabby. High School coaches were Aditi Dinakar and Karen Chen.
