Johnston Offers Free Firewood At Terra Lake Park
Bring a truck to get some of Johnston's free firewood, which isn't yet cut in pieces small enough for a fireplace.
JOHNSTON, IA — Free firewood is available in Terra Lake Park and Johnston residents can stop by any day to fill up a vehicle and stock up for winter. The park is located at 6300 Pioneer Parkway.
Due to the presence of the emerald ash borer in Iowa, the firewood cannot be transported outside of Polk County.
The park is open during daylight hours and the firewood is located at the west end of the park. Officials recommend bringing a truck as the firewood is in larger chunks and will need to be cut for use in a fireplace.
