State Wrestling: First Round Results

The first round of 3A State Wrestling is in the record books.

Johnston sent four wrestlers to the tournament here are results:

Henry Pohlmeyer pinned Fort Dodge's Erik Birnbaum in 1:18 to advance in the 106-pound bracket. Pohlmeyer will next face Kyler Lowe of Waterloo East. Lowe won his last match in a 3-0 decision over Chase Evans of Glenwood.

Travis Price was bested by Linn-Mar's Matt Wempen 9-1 in the 113-pound bracket. Price will face Mason Hubrig of Waterloo West in the consolation bracket. Hubrig was pinned in a 1:25 by Fort Madison's Bryce Meyer.

Zack Robinson lost in a major decision 12-0 to Charles Weaver of Council Bluffs Jefferson in the 145-pound weight class. Robinson will next face Josh Larson of Mount Pleasant in the consolation round. Larson was pinned in 3:07 by Bubba Hernandez of Bettendorf in the first round.

Logan Walkup beat Dakota Digmann of Linn-Mar by a 6-0 decision to advance in the 160-pound weight class. Walkup next faces Morgan Hall of Western Debuque. Hall won in a major decision 10-0 over Cody Jones of Oskaloosa.
