Johnston Police Vehicle Involved in Accident; No Problems Reported for Plow Crews
Heavy snowfall overnight results in the third snow day for Johnston students.

Johnston snow crews have plowed more than 95 miles of streets Wednesday morning.
Crews hit the streets at 3 a.m. while there was about an inch of snow on the ground.

By the morning commute there was about 4 inches of snow on the ground.
Central Iowa recored between four and five inches of snow so far today, KCCI New Channel 8 reports.
Travel is not advised, as strong winds blow snow. A winter storm warning for heavy and blowing snow is still in effect until noon.

Dave Cubit, public works director told the Des Moines Register, there were few problems for crews. Only one car was found parked on the street.
Streets were mostly clear for the morning commute, if people dared to venture out, he told the paper.
Accidents
A Johnston Police car was involved in an accident at Beaver Drive and 66th Avenue, the Register reported. No injuries were reported.
Lt. Lynn Aswegan told the paper damage was estimated to the police vehicle at $7,000.
No other accidents were reported as of 7:30 a.m., the paper reported.

For the third time this school year, there will be no school because of heavy snow in Johnston.
The Johnston Community School District has canceled classes and no KTC today.
The latest snow storm dumped 4 to 6 inches of snow across the state, according to KCCI News Channel 8.
A winter storm warning from the National Weather Service is still in effect in the area, as is a city of Johnston snow ordinance.
Cars must be removed from the streets, so crews can clear the roads.
According the Iowa Department of Transportation, interstate travel in the metro is very slow this morning.
DOT road crews will be working throughout the day to clear roads, but current travel conditions are not idea, WHOtv reports.Â
Temperatures Wednesday will be much cooler than Tuesday, with high in the low 20s and teens. Winds will combine with the cold temperatures to produce bitter windchills, KCCI reports.
