3 Marion Residents Sent to Hospital After Car Crash
The Linn County Sheriff's Department is investigating a crash on Highway 13 with serious injuries.

The Linn County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fiery car crash that sent three people to the hospital, including two with serious injuries, on Sunday morning.
Authorities say Norman R. Nielson, 78, and Dora Nielson, 75, both of Marion, were taken to St. Luke's Hospital with what are believed to be serious injuries.
The vehicle of Tessa Jo Weigel, 23 of Marion, caught fire during the crash, and she was also taken to St. Luke's. Her injuries are considered non-life-threatening and they were not caused by the fire, according to a news release from the Linn County Sheriff's Office.

The crash occurred at about 10:10 a.m. on Sunday, March 10 at the intersection of Highway 13 and Prairie Chapel Road.
The Nielson's vehicle was at a stop sign for westbound traffic at the intersection with Highway 13. The Nielson's vehicle then pulled onto the northbound Highway 13 and collided with a northbound vehicle driven by Weigel.

Linn County Deputies, Linn County Sheriff’s Rescue, Marion Fire and Rescue, Area Ambulance and North Linn Ambulance all responded.
Weigel’s vehicle came to rest in the median where it caught fire. Nielson’s vehicle came to rest in the northbound lanes of Highway 13, according to the news release.Â
